Sympistis is a genus of moths in the Noctuidae family. It is part of the animal kingdom, arthropod phylum, insect class, and the Lepidoptera order, within the subfamily Oncocnemidinae. The genus was first described by Jacob Hübner in 1823. Over time, it has been known by many synonyms, including Lepipolys, Oncocnemis, Phornacisa, Homohadena, Adita, Copihadena, Metahadena, Apharetra, Homoncocnemis, Anartomorpha, Hemistilbia, Funepistis, and Sinupistis.
