The second ascent occurred in 1984 via the northeast face, by a Siliguri team led by Durjoy Ghosh; four climbers and two Sherpas reached the top in bad weather. A British team tried the south ridge in 1989 but turned back about 400 feet (120 meters) from the summit due to weather.
