Streptomyces bikiniensis
Streptomyces bikiniensis is a soil bacterium in the Streptomyces group. It was found in soil from Bikini Atoll and was described by Johnstone and Waksman in 1947. This species produces the antibiotic streptomycin II and the enzyme carboxypeptidase. Streptomyces bacteria are well known for making antibiotics.
