Straight Down Fall Classic
The Straight Down Fall Classic is a professional golf pro‑am team event held at San Luis Golf and Country Club near San Luis Obispo, California, just after the PGA Tour season ends. Teams pair one professional with one amateur to play 36 holes of four-ball stroke play (scratch) over two days.
Prize money goes to the pros and the winning amateur: the winning pro earns $20,000, runner‑up $11,000, and third place $10,000; the low club pro takes $3,000, and the amateur on the winning team receives $750 in merchandise.
Sponsored by Straight Down, a golf and athletic clothing company that also sponsors PGA Tour players, the event began in 1997. Past participants include Fred Couples, John Daly, Bryson DeChambeau, Brandt Snedeker, Tom Lehman and Tom Weiskopf.
The 2019 Fall Classic was scheduled for November 16–17. The field featured PGA Tour winners Arron Oberholser, Paul Stankowski, Jason Gore, Loren Roberts and Steve Pate, with amateurs including Ian Happ of the Chicago Cubs and Buddy Marucci, the 1995 U.S. Amateur runner-up to Tiger Woods.
