Stephen Williams (bowler)
Stephen Williams (born 3 August 1973) is a Welsh short mat bowls player and a four-time world singles champion. He won the world singles title in 2002, 2004, 2010 and 2012, and he also won the world triples title in 1994. Williams has been a national champion and a British Isles champion. On the Short Mat Players Tour, he has won three singles events: the English Masters in 2015 (defeating Paul Bax 12–7), the British Open in 2019 (defeating Benny Bass 10–9), and the English Masters again in 2019 (defeating Sean Hughes 12–10). He also won the Welsh Grand Prix 2 Bowls Pairs in 2018 with Johnathan Payne, after finishing as runner-up in 2017. In 2012, as the reigning world champion, he defeated Alex Marshall in the Champion of Champions, 6–4 over seven ends.
