Spells and Philtres is a 1958 poetry collection by Clark Ashton Smith, published by Arkham House in the United States. The hardback edition has 54 pages and was issued in a limited run of 519 copies, with jacket art by Frank Utpatel. This was Smith’s fifth book and his second Arkham House poetry collection. It served as a stop-gap release after The Dark Chateau while a larger collection, Selected Poems, was being prepared (it finally appeared in 1971). The volume also includes translations of some French and Spanish poems. The poem Clérigo Herrero is not about a real person; it is an original composition by Smith.
