Social Security Appeal Tribunal
Social Security Appeal Tribunal (SSAT) was a United Kingdom body that heard appeals about decisions on social security benefits made by the Department for Work and Pensions, HM Revenue and Customs, and local authorities. In 1984, supplementary benefit appeal tribunals and National Insurance local tribunals were merged into the SSAT. The SSAT was abolished in November 2008, and its functions were transferred to the First-tier Tribunal.
