Shane Mauss (born May 25, 1980) is an American comedian from Onalaska, Wisconsin. He’s been performing since 2004 and has released three comedy albums between 2010 and 2015, with one of them later shown as a TV special. He stars in the 2018 documentary Psychonautics: A Comic's Exploration Of Psychedelics and hosts the Here We Are podcast (since 2014), where he talks with scientists and academics. He also co-hosts Mind Under Matter, a comedy–science podcast started in 2021 with Ramin Nazer.

Mauss comes from German and Irish heritage and has said his distant Jewish ancestors used the name Mosche in 17th-century Switzerland. He wanted to be a stand-up comedian from age ten and began writing jokes at 15, but anxiety delayed his career until he was 23. He started in Boston with open mics and then club gigs, gradually building his act. He gained early recognition at the Greater Boston Alternative Comedy Festival and has performed there several times. In 2007 he won HBO’s Comedy Arts Festival Best Standup Comic, which helped him land appearances on Late Night with Conan O’Brien (five times).

His first album, Jokes To Make My Parents Proud, released in 2010, was named one of Punchline Magazine’s top ten albums of the year. In 2014, he broke both feet while hiking, and this experience inspired his 2015 album My Big Break. He has toured a show called Stand Up Science and continues to perform and work on podcasts. Mauss has appeared on many popular programs, including WTF with Marc Maron, The Joe Rogan Experience, You Made It Weird with Pete Holmes, The Duncan Trussell Family Hour, This Past Weekend, and Bertcast.
