Scene on the Tummel, Perthshire is a painting from 1844 by British artist Thomas Creswick. It’s oil on canvas and measures 91.5 cm by 71.1 cm. The scene shows the River Tummel in Scotland near Pitlochry, with the Pass of Killiecrankie in the background and the Giant’s Steps promontory on the left.
Creswick, who was born in Sheffield, was known for his landscapes of British scenes. The area attracted many Victorian artists, including Millais and Turner. The painting was shown at the Royal Academy Exhibition of 1844 in the National Gallery, Trafalgar Square. It was bought by John Sheepshanks and donated to the Victoria and Albert Museum in 1857 as part of the Sheepshanks Gift. It is now housed in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
