San Francisco Dons men's soccer

The San Francisco Dons men’s soccer team represents the University of San Francisco in NCAA Division I, playing in the West Coast Conference (WCC). The program was founded in 1931 and uses green and gold as its colors. Home games are held at Negoesco Stadium in San Francisco, which seats about 3,000.

Head coach: Chris Brown (hired in 2021).

National championships: The Dons won national titles in 1966, 1975, 1976, and 1980.

Overview: The team has appeared in many NCAA Tournaments and has won multiple conference championships. They also won the conference regular-season title in 2017.

Controversy: In 2021, Sports Illustrated reported allegations of sexual harassment and sexual assault involving some team members. USF’s Title IX office produced a 53-page report stating that 11 individuals engaged in sexual assault. The report noted some anti-LGBT rhetoric but did not find it pervasive in the program. Former Dons player Manny Padilla was named in the allegations; the university gave him a deferred suspension, allowing him to graduate. After the reports, Padilla was suspended by his professional club, New Mexico United, following a Change.org petition.
