Salomão Pavlovsky (1924–1997) was a Brazilian entrepreneur and journalist. Born September 11, 1924, in Rio de Janeiro to Jewish immigrant parents, he helped his family as a child. In 1957 he moved to Sorocaba, São Paulo, where he sold advertising space. He worked in radio at PRD-7 Rádio Clube (now Rádio Boa Nova) as a presenter and as commercial director for the radio and the Cruzeiro do Sul newspaper. In the 1970s he helped bring the first FM radio to inland São Paulo, and in 1978 Rádio Vanguarda FM was launched. On October 5, 1990, he opened TV Sorocaba (now TVS+), affiliated with SBT and Grupo Silvio Santos, which owned 20% of the capital. Pavlovsky became a notable political figure in Sorocaba and worked with the National Renewal Alliance. He interviewed Ronald Reagan and Queen Elizabeth II. He died in September 1997 in Sorocaba. His name is given to a viaduct on the Castelo Branco Highway and to a bridge linking Sorocaba’s East Zone with the Santa Rosália neighborhood.
