Roohallah Jomei (born 5 April 1974 in Tehran) is an Iranian journalist and politician. He has served as Deputy Minister and Advisor to the Interior Minister from 2015 to 2021, and was the Head of the Information and International Affairs Center at the Ministry of Interior from 2014 to 2015. Controversies and notable remarks:
- In 2009, during the presidential election, Jomei said he was pressured by the presidential administration to publish Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s victory before the official results. He objected and left IRNA at 10 pm in protest, a move linked to suspicions of election fraud.
- He has spoken about the November 2019–2020 protests, stating that 23% of protesters were shot at close range, and that 16% of those killed in November were at military bases while 31% were at public facilities. He also said some members of Parliament were aware of gasoline quotas.
- He has denied some reports about his statements, saying coverage was distorted.
- There were unconfirmed reports of his arrest by the IRGC Intelligence Organization, which were later denied. He reportedly discussed the rumors with Interior Minister Rahmani Fazli, and the record was corrected with help from his advisor Parviz Ismaili.
