Ron Lay
Ronald Samuel Marshall Lay (18 February 1917 – 9 November 1996) was an English cricket umpire.
He started umpiring in local Northamptonshire clubs, then in the Minor Counties Championship from 1950. His first first-class umpiring came in 1953 in the Northamptonshire vs Scotland match at Peterborough. He joined the official first-class list in 1956 and umpired 303 first-class matches up to 1968, mainly in the County Championship. He also umpired 12 List A one-day matches from 1963 to 1968. In 1964 he missed part of the season after being hit on the foot by a ball driven by Ted Dexter. He died in Northampton in November 1996.
