Rethera brandti
Rethera brandti, the lesser madder hawkmoth, is a moth in the hawkmoth family (Sphingidae). It was first described in 1937 by Otto Bang-Haas. It lives from south-eastern Turkey and north-eastern Iraq to southern Iran (the Zagros Mountains) and into western Pakistan. Its wingspan is about 40–46 mm. There are two subspecies: Rethera brandti brandti and Rethera brandti euteles. Brandti adults fly from April to mid‑May once a year. Euteles adults fly from late March to mid‑May, depending on altitude, and may have one or two generations per year. The larvae probably feed on Galium plants.
