Reproductive and Developmental Medicine is an international, peer‑reviewed journal that publishes the latest research in reproductive medicine and developmental biology. It comes out quarterly and is co‑sponsored by the Chinese Medical Association, the Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital of Fudan University, and the Shanghai Institute for Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Technologies. The editor‑in‑chief is Prof. Xu Congjian.

The journal began as the Journal of Reproduction and Contraception (English Edition) in 1989, aligning with China’s family planning policies. After China ended its one‑child policy in 2016, it was renamed Reproductive and Developmental Medicine in April 2016. Its governance and sponsors were updated at that time. In 2017 it started publishing with Medknow under Wolters Kluwer, and since 2022 the publisher has been Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, also part of Wolters Kluwer. Submissions are free of charge; the article processing charges are covered by Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital of Fudan University.

The journal covers reproductive endocrinology, reproductive immunology, gametogenesis, fertilization, embryo development and implantation, birth defects, reproductive genetics, reproductive biology, fertility preservation, andrology, genetic diagnosis, preimplantation genetic testing, and germline stem cell research. It generally excludes studies on reproductive system cancers.

The journal is indexed in Web of Science ESCI, Scopus, EMBASE, and DOAJ. It notes its top cited articles in Web of Science, though specific titles are not listed here.
