Randy White (pastor)
Randy Alan White (born January 11, 1958 in Frederick, Maryland) is an American pastor and advocate of prosperity theology. He co-founded Without Walls International Church in Florida with Paula White in 1991. The church grew quickly, often meeting in tents and attracting thousands of attendees; by the early 2000s it reported tens of thousands of members and many ministries. The Lakeland campus opened in 2002, and Carpenter’s Home Church in Lakeland was later purchased for church use. White resigned as pastor in 2009 for health reasons, with Paula White succeeding him; he returned to the church staff in 2012. The ministry later faced debt and bankruptcy issues, and its buildings were sold and demolished as part of redevelopment. In 2014 the church moved to a new Tampa location.
A United States Senate Finance Committee investigation into Without Walls began in 2007 and concluded in 2011 with no penalties. In 2018 White announced a bid for the U.S. Senate in the Democratic primary against Bill Nelson, but he did not qualify. Personal life: White has been married twice. With his first wife Debra Ellis, he had three children; their daughter died in 2008, prompting him to start the Kristen Renee Foundation in her memory. Debra Ellis died in 2010. He later married Paula Furr in 1990 and divorced in 2007. In 2011 he was stopped for driving under the influence and later completed rehabilitation.
