Ramsden's least gecko
Ramsden's least gecko (Sphaerodactylus ramsdeni) is a small lizard that lives only in Cuba. It belongs to the family Sphaerodactylidae. The name ramsdeni honors herpetologist Charles Theodore Ramsden, who collected the first specimen in 1914. It lives in forests. It has a very large rostral (snout) scale, with six scales behind it. The scales between the eye sockets are smooth. Its dorsal (back) scales are small and its ventral (belly) scales are smooth. The tail scales have a curved rear edge. The gecko lays eggs. Its conservation status is Least Concern.
