Rajendra Shukla (politician)
Rajendra Shukla (born 3 August 1964) is an Indian politician from Madhya Pradesh and a senior member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He has been the Member of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly from Rewa since 2003 and previously contested the 1998 election, which he lost.
Shukla started his political career with the Indian National Congress and switched to the BJP in 1998. He won the Rewa seat in 2003, defeating the sitting MLA Pushparaj Singh, and was re-elected in 2008, 2013, and 2018.
He has held several ministerial roles in the Madhya Pradesh government under Chief Ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Mohan Yadav. His portfolios have included Energy (2008–2016), Industry (2016–2018), and Public Health Engineering (August–December 2023). Since December 25, 2023, he has served as the Cabinet Minister for Public Health and Medical Education.
On 13 December 2023, he became the 5th Deputy Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, serving alongside Jagdish Devda in the government headed by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.
Personal life: Shukla was born in Rewa to Bhaiyyalal Shukla, a civil contractor. He earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering from Government Engineering College Rewa. He is married to Sunita Shukla and has one son and two daughters.
