Puteri Munajjah Az-Zahraa Azhar
Puteri Munajjah Az-Zahraa binti Azhar (born 2001) is a Malaysian chess player who holds the title of Woman International Master (WIM), earned in 2019. She is the third Malaysian woman to achieve the WIM title.
Highlights:
- Won the girls Under-18 at the 4th Eastern Asian Youth Chess Championship 2019 in Bangkok (7.5/9).
- First Malaysian woman to qualify for the Women's Chess World Cup (2021) in Sochi; eliminated in the first round by Ana Matnadze (Spain) 1.5–0.5.
- Joint runner-up at the 2022 Marienbad Open, Czech Republic (6.5/9).
- Bronze medal in Women's Blitz Team at the delayed 2021 Southeast Asian Games in Vietnam, with her sister Rifqah Fahada.
- Former Malaysian Champion (2019) and six-time MSSM Champion; strong youth results at ASEAN+ Age Group 2011 (Indonesia): four golds and two silvers.
- Represented Malaysia in the World Chess Olympiads: 2018 Batumi and 2022 Chennai; no events in 2020 due to COVID-19.
- Qualified for the Women's World Cup 2023 in Baku; first Malaysian to reach two consecutive World Cups, but lost in the first round to Divya Deshmukh (India) 1.5–0.5.
