Provincial Secretary (Manitoba)
Provincial Secretary (Manitoba) was a key role during Manitoba’s early years (1870–1874) as the province set up its institutions. There was no Premier at that time; the Lieutenant-Governor led the government. Early Provincial Secretaries, such as Alfred Boyd and Henry Joseph Clarke, were the most notable elected officials and are often considered Premiers in later sources.
