Project Runway Latin America
Project Runway Latin America was a reality fashion competition that aired on Glitz* from 2010 to 2013. It was hosted by Mexican model Rebecca de Alba, with judges including Ángel Sánchez and Claudia Pandolfo (season 1) and Monica Fonseca (season 2). Designers were mentored by Mariano Toledo.
The show ran three seasons across Latin America, with a total of 36 episodes (about 60 minutes each). Season 1 was filmed in Buenos Aires, Argentina, featuring 15 designers from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Venezuela. Season 2 was filmed in Miami, Florida, with 14 designers from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Uruguay, Puerto Rico, and Venezuela. Season 3 took place in Mexico City, with 16 designers from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, El Salvador, Mexico, and Venezuela.
Rewards varied by season:
- Season 1: $20,000 to start a collection, plus opportunities to present at Puerto Rico High Fashion Week, DF Fashion Week, and a cover shoot for Elle Mexico, plus one week at Atlantis Paradise Island. Winner: Jorge Duque (Colombia).
- Season 2: $30,000 to start a collection, plus a chance to present at Mercedes-Benz DF Fashion Week México, a Glamour México and Latin America magazine photo shoot, and one week for two at Live Aqua Cancún.
- Season 3: A photo spread in Marie Claire Mexico and Marie Claire Latin America, and the chance to present a show at Miami Fashion Week.
The show was canceled after the third season.
