Presidential committee on young generation
The Presidential Committee on Young Generation (PCYG) is a group that advises the President of South Korea on issues facing young people. It was established on July 13, 2013 and is led by Minwoo Nam, who heads the Korea Venture Business Association and is the CEO of DASAN Networks. The PCYG is based in Seoul and helps the government communicate with young people, making policy decisions about youth more effective.
The committee is defined as including men and women aged 19 to 39. Its main job is to advise the president on youth policy. It also acts as a mediator between different government departments during the policy-making process and focuses on field work, people, and collaboration.
PCYG has two divisions: the committee board and the working group. The committee board has 24 members—19 civilians and 5 government officials—and includes young leaders from various fields, such as entrepreneurs, international volunteers, and mentors. The board is supported by three sub-committees. The working group is split into two teams: the policy team and the communications team.
The group’s work follows three steps: first, it gathers and discusses youth opinions; second, it collects input from government departments and mediates between them; and third, it reports to the president and then monitors how policies are carried out, collecting feedback along the way.
Location: 12th floor, KT Building, Sejong-ro 100, Jongno-gu, Seoul.
