Platytroctidae
Platytroctidae, the tubeshoulders, are a family of ray-finned fish in the order Alepocephaliformes. They are found worldwide except the Mediterranean Sea. They live at depths of about 300 to 1,000 meters, and some species have light-producing organs. They are small to medium in size, growing from about 9 to 33 cm long. The family includes several genera, including the legless searsid Platytroctes apus.
