Pimelodella
Pimelodella is a group of three-barbel catfish. It is the largest genus in its family, Heptapteridae, but scientists still need to revise its classification. These fish live on both sides of the Andes, from Panama to Paraguay and southern Brazil. With the exception of Pimelodella chagresi, all species are found in South America. The genus includes two cave-dwelling species, Pimelodella kronei and Pimelodella spelaea. There are about 81 recognized Pimelodella species.
