Pickin' & Fiddlin' is the Dillards’ third album, released in 1965. It’s an all-instrumental bluegrass record featuring fiddle player Byron Berline. The album runs about 33 minutes and was recorded at World Pacific Studios in Los Angeles, released by Elektra and produced by Jim Dickson. It sits between Live!!!! Almost!!! (1964) and Wheatstraw Suite (1968) in the band’s discography.

The Dillards made the album with Berline as a strictly traditional set because they were unhappy with Elektra's pressure not to innovate and with the label’s lack of promotion. They owed Elektra one more album, so they chose to record a traditional album with a friend. Rodney Dillard later said the project was aimed at traditional players, and that Elektra’s criticisms spurred them to do it their own way.
