Overpowered is a 2007 electropop song by Irish singer Róisín Murphy, from her second studio album, which is also titled Overpowered. It was written by Murphy along with Paul "Seiji" Dolby and Mike Patto, and produced by Murphy and Dolby. The track was released on 9 July 2007 as the album’s lead single. It reached number 149 on the UK Singles Chart based on downloads only, since physical formats didn’t qualify for the chart. The single’s art direction was by Scott King, with photography by Jonathan de Villiers; Murphy appears on the cover wearing a Viktor & Rolf design.

Critics praised the song. About.com described it as a melancholic ode with a seductive vocal, AllMusic highlighted its sleek beats and catchy chorus, and BBC Music called it a heady electronic anthem with a playful mix of harp and spacey synths. musicOMH called it an unrelenting electro-pop gem, and Pitchfork placed it at number 69 on its Top 100 Tracks of 2007, saying it’s arty and seductive.

The music video, directed by Jamie Thraves, shows Murphy walking home at night after a gig, riding a Leyland Titan bus, stopping at a kebab shop, witnessing a police chase, then returning home to go through her nightly routine before bed. She wears a distinctive black-and-white Gareth Pugh outfit, the same piece later worn by Kylie Minogue in her “In My Arms” video.

The credits come from the CD single liner notes.
