Osaka 10th district is a single-seat area for Japan’s House of Representatives, located in northeastern Osaka. It includes Takatsuki city and Shimamoto town (the last remaining municipality of Mishima County). In 2016, 321,805 people were registered to vote there. The district was created in 1994 when Osaka’s former five-member 3rd district was split up. The current representative is Taku Ikeshita of the Ishin party. In the past, Kiyomi Tsujimoto of the Constitutional Democratic Party (formerly with the Social Democratic Party) served as a representative after being elected in 2000 and 2009; she left politics in 2010 when her party left the ruling coalition. Kenta Matsunami was another former member, who ran in 2012 for the Japan Restoration Party. Tsujimoto did not win re-election in 2021. Before the 1990s reform, the area was part of Osaka’s five-member 3rd district.
