Andrei Korobeinik
Andrei Korobeinik (born 5 November 1980 in Pärnu, Estonia) is a programmer, investor and entrepreneur. He founded Rate Solutions and Serenda Invest and is best known for creating Rate.ee, a popular Estonian social site.
From 2011 to 2013 he was a member of the Estonian parliament. In 2005 he sold 51% of Rate.ee to EMT for 39 million Estonian Krones (about 2 million EUR), making him a young millionaire. In 2012 Serenda Invest bought back Rate.ee from EMT; the price was not disclosed.
He won the 2008 British Council International Young Interactive Entrepreneur Award. He serves as a judge on the Estonian Dragons' Den and makes angel investments in internet startups. He has also appeared on the TV show Ajujaht.
Korobeinik finished Pärnu Russian Gymnasium in 1998 and began studying maths and information technology at the University of Tartu that year.
In 2010 he started Cutefund.com, a crowdsourced mutual fund project that aims to trade stocks for investors. It was awaiting a license to trade, but users could register and use a free demo mode.
He created Flirtic.com, a dating site popular in Eastern Europe and Russia.
In the 2011 parliamentary election he ran for the Riigikogu representing Pärnu County, receiving 2,057 votes but initially not winning a seat. He joined Parliament on 6 April 2011, replacing Rein Lang who became Minister of Culture. He left on 4 December 2013 when Lang stepped down. He was the chair of the e-parliament committee. He is a chess player and was elected president of the Estonian Chess Union on 20 November 2011.
