Olive-backed pipit
Olive-backed pipit (Anthus hodgsoni) is a small ground-dwelling bird in the pipit family. It breeds across southern, north-central and eastern Asia and parts of northeast European Russia, and it migrates long distances to southern Asia and Indonesia in winter. It is sometimes called the Indian pipit or Hodgson's pipit, and is sometimes likened to the tree pipit, but it has an olive-toned back, fewer streaks, and a more clearly marked head with a strong supercilium. The genus name Anthus is Latin for a small grassland bird, and hodgsoni honors English diplomat and collector Brian Houghton Hodgson. The subspecies A. h. hodgsoni has been recorded at Mount Phulchowki, Nepal. Conservation status: Least Concern (IUCN 3.1).
