Ocean Terminal, Hong Kong
Ocean Terminal is a cruise ship terminal and shopping centre on Canton Road in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong. It sits where the Kowloon Star Ferry Pier and other Wharf facilities used to be. The terminal opened on 22 March 1966, costing HK$70 million. At the time it had 112 shops and was the largest shopping centre in Hong Kong, and one of the first malls in the city. In 1982, it was re-branded with nearby Wharf buildings as Harbour City. Ocean Terminal is owned by The Wharf (Holdings) Limited. It has two berths for ships up to 50,000 tonnes and is part of Harbour City, with about 2,000,000 square feet of space. In the past, there were times when demand for berths exceeded capacity, so some ships had to berth mid-stream or at container terminals; berth usage has remained high in recent years.
