Novoselivka Persha
Novoselivka Persha is a village in Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine. It is part of the Ocheretyne settlement hromada in Pokrovsk Raion and lies about 28 kilometers northwest of Donetsk city.
The village was founded in the mid-1800s. It has seen fighting during the Donbas war, and later during Russia’s invasion of Ukraine that began in 2022.
In May 2024, fighting reached Novoselivka Persha after nearby battles in Ocheretyne and Avdiivka. Russian forces increased pressure in early June 2024. By July 2024, they entered the village and threatened Ukrainian presence, capturing most of it by July 23. On July 29, 2024, the village was completely captured by Russia.
Population data from 2001 show 942 residents. Their native languages were 76.58% Ukrainian, 23.32% Russian, and 0.11% Moldovan.
