North Wiltshire was a local government district in Wiltshire, England, from 1974 to 2009. It was created on 1 April 1974 by joining the towns of Calne, Chippenham and Malmesbury and several surrounding rural districts. The district shared its name with the North Wiltshire parliamentary constituency until 1997. The council was based in Chippenham, first at Bewley House and later at Monkton Park, overlooking the River Avon. On 1 April 2009 it was replaced by Wiltshire Council, a single unitary authority. Wiltshire Council kept Monkton Park as a satellite office near County Hall in Trowbridge. Some services moved to town and parish councils; by 2019 Chippenham Town Council had taken over a large park, a community centre, play areas and services such as grounds maintenance and street cleaning.
