Nikita Gusev
Nikita Gusev, nicknamed "Goose," is a Russian professional ice hockey forward who plays left wing for HC Dynamo Moscow in the KHL. He was born on July 8, 1992, in Moscow, and he is 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 163 pounds. He shoots right.
Gusev rose to prominence in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), where he has been one of the league’s top players. He won the KHL’s Golden Stick MVP award in 2018 and again in 2024, and he set the league single-season points record with 89 (23 goals, 66 assists) in the 2023–24 season. He helped SKA Saint Petersburg win the Gagarin Cup in 2017. Over nine KHL seasons, he has accumulated 332 points in 391 games, placing him among the league’s all-time leaders.
In the NHL, Gusev was drafted 202nd overall in 2012 by the Tampa Bay Lightning. His rights were part of the deal that allowed the Vegas Golden Knights to select him in the 2017 expansion draft. He signed with Vegas in 2019 and then joined the New Jersey Devils later that year, signing a two-year, $9 million contract. In the 2019–20 season with New Jersey, he led the team with 31 assists and had 44 points in 66 games. The 2020–21 season was less productive, and he and the Devils agreed to part ways in April 2021. He then signed a one-year contract with the Florida Panthers. In 2021 he attended a Toronto Maple Leafs training camp on a professional tryout but did not stay, and he returned to the KHL with SKA Saint Petersburg. After two productive seasons, he left SKA in April 2023 and joined Dynamo Moscow in July 2023. He signed a one-year extension with Dynamo in August 2024.
Internationally, Gusev has represented Russia in several world championships and junior events. He won Olympic gold in 2018 with the Olympic Athletes from Russia team and silver in 2022 representing the ROC.
