Nicoll Fosdick

Nicoll Fosdick (November 9, 1785 – May 7, 1868) was an American merchant and politician born in New London, Connecticut. He moved to Norway, New York, where he worked in trade. He served as a presidential elector in 1816, voting for James Monroe and Daniel D. Tompkins. Fosdick was a member of the New York State Assembly in 1818 and 1819. He was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives as an Adams supporter and served in the 19th Congress from March 4, 1825, to March 3, 1827. He returned to New London in 1843 and later served as Collector of Customs for the Port of New London from 1849 to 1853. He died in New London and was buried at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
