Nicholé Breedt
Nicholé Breedt, born Nicholé Taljaard on 3 May 1997 in Cape Town, is a South African international netball player. She plays GA for London Pulse in the Netball Super League and can also cover WA and GS. She stands 1.77 m tall. She is married to Tommie Breedt, marrying in 2024.
Education and early life
Breedt started playing netball at age five. She went to Stellenberg High School, where she was a regular in the netball first team and played at national level for her school. She earned a BSc in Sports Science and a postgraduate certificate in education from Stellenbosch University, where she also played for the Maties netball team.
Club and domestic career
Breedt captained the Western Cape Southern Stings in the Telkom Netball League, South Africa’s national league. She signed with London Pulse for the 2024 Netball Super League season and helped the team win their first Super League Grand Final in 2025, beating Loughborough Lightning 53–45.
International career
Breedt made her senior international debut for South Africa at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in a pool match against Wales on 3 August 2022. She was part of the SA squad that finished as runners-up to Australia at the 2022 Fast5 Netball World Series. She was in the South African squad for the 2023 Netball World Cup, the team’s maiden appearance at a World Cup. She played a crucial role in a 48–48 draw with New Zealand, scoring the equalizer late in the final quarter when South Africa were five points behind with five minutes left. South Africa won their final group game 52–50 against Uganda but could not progress to the semi-finals.
Personal life
Breedt became engaged to her partner Tommie Breedt in 2021 and married in 2024. She describes herself as an introvert who often stays at home and tends to go largely unnoticed. She also endured an ACL injury as a young player, which required about a year of recovery.
