Neeya 2 is a 2019 Tamil romantic horror film directed by L. Suresh and produced by Sridhar Arunachalam. It stars Jai in a double role alongside Catherine Tresa, Raai Laxmi, and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar. A sequel to the 1979 classic Neeya, the movie blends romance with a legend about shapeshifting snakes. The music is by Shabir.

Plot
In the present, Sarva is cursed with naga dosham and marries Divya, who also claims the same curse. Malar is a shapeshifting snake who is a woman by day and a snake by night, and she falls in love with Sarva. She disguises herself to win him. Flashbacks reveal Malar’s past life with Vikram and their quest to become human, including retrieving a sacred talisman. In the present, Malar pursues Sarva and Divya, causing trouble. A rishi (sage) uses his powers to uncover Sarva’s past and secrets, but he withholds some truths about Malar. As events unfold, Divya’s deception about her naga dosham is exposed. The story moves between romance, danger, and revelation, ending with Sarva choosing Divya over Malar. Malar dies after being poisoned by Divya’s wound, saying she died for him in the previous life and will wait for him in the next.

Production and release
The first shooting schedule took place in Pondicherry, with later shoots in Talakonam, Chennai, Madurai, and Chalakudy. Neeya 2 released in May 2019. It received mostly negative reviews and was a box office disappointment.
