Myrtos Beach
Myrtos Beach is in the northwest of Kefalonia, Greece, in the Pylaros region, between two mountains: Agia Dynati and Kalon Oros. The beach is a long arc of white marble pebbles, about 1.5 miles long, and the water often looks turquoise because waves move the pebbles along the shore.
The shore drops steeply into the sea, so the waves are strong. The access road is a winding 2 km route with hairpin turns from the village of Divarata. In summer, a public bus runs from Agia Efimia to the beach (check the tourist office for timetables). There is private parking at the base of the cliffs, and tavernas are available in Divarata above the beach. Myrtos is widely praised as one of Greece’s best beaches and has even appeared in films, including Captain Corelli’s Mandolin.
