Muscle Shoals National Heritage Area
Muscle Shoals National Heritage Area is a federally designated area in northwestern Alabama. It centers on the Tennessee River around Muscle Shoals and celebrates the region’s history and culture. The area covers Lauderdale, Limestone, Colbert, Franklin, Lawrence, and Morgan counties. Highlights include Wheeler Dam, Wilson Dam, Ivy Green, Rosenbaum House, Barton Hall, and the northern end of the Natchez Trace. It was created by the Omnibus Public Land Management Act, signed into law on March 30, 2009, and is administered by the University of North Alabama.
