Morven, Caithness

Morven is a mountain in Caithness, in the Highland region of Scotland. Its Gaelic name is A' Mhòr Bheinn, which means “Big mountain.”

- Height: 706 metres (2,316 feet) and it is the highest point in Caithness.
- It has a prominent, conical shape and stands out in the mostly flat Caithness landscape.
- It is classified as a Graham and a Marilyn (types of hills/mountains in Scotland).
- On clear days, Morven can be seen from many places around the Moray Firth, including Buckie. In Findochty, a street is called Morven Crescent because of the view.
- The name Morven is also used for Buckpool Golf Club’s fifth hole and for some houses with views of the Moray Firth.
- There is another Morven in Aberdeenshire.
- History: Prince George, Duke of Kent, died in a 1942 air crash on a hillside near Morven while serving with the Royal Air Force.
