Ministry of Labour and Social Security (Turkey)
Ministry of Labour and Social Security (Turkish: Çalışma ve Sosyal Güvenlik Bakanlığı) is a government ministry in Turkey that handles work and social security matters. It is based in Ankara and led by Minister Vedat Işıkhan.
History short overview:
- It began as the Office of Labour and Labourers in the Ministry of Economy under Act No. 2450, effective May 27, 1934.
- It became a standalone ministry on June 22, 1945 (Act No. 4763).
- In 1983, the separate Ministries of Labour and Social Security were merged into the Ministry of Labour and Social Security.
- In 2018, it merged with the Ministry of Family and Social Policy, and in 2021 the merger ended, returning Labour and Social Security tasks to a separate ministry.
The ministry has deputy ministers and maintains an online presence at www.csgb.gov.tr.
