Minister for Internal Security (Ceylon)
The Minister for Internal Security was a short‑lived cabinet post in the Government of Ceylon, existing from January to March 1960 during W. Dahanayake’s caretaker government. Senator Layard Jayasundera was the minister, and Sydney de Zoysa was the Permanent Secretary. This ministry oversaw the Ceylon Police Force, which handled internal security duties at the time. Before January 1960, the police had briefly been under the Minister of Justice following the assassination of Bandaranaike. Traditionally, the police were under the Ministry of External Affairs and Defence, a portfolio held by the Prime Minister.
