Mike Ulufale
Michael Fuimaono Ulufale (born February 1, 1972) is a former American football defensive tackle. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and attended James Campbell High School. He played college football at San Bernardino Valley College before transferring to Brigham Young University (BYU). At BYU he started as a junior, had a productive senior year, but was suspended for four games for an honor code issue.
Ulufale was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the third round of the 1996 NFL Draft (95th overall). His NFL career was interrupted by injuries—a torn ACL in 1996 and a neck strain in 1997—and he was waived before the 1997 season after the neck injury.
He then played in the Arena Football League for the San Jose SaberCats from 2000 to 2002, earning AFL All-Rookie honors in 2000, being named second-team All-AFL in 2001, and helping the SaberCats win ArenaBowl XVI in 2002. He also played for the Los Angeles Avengers in 2003 and was traded to the Philadelphia Soul in 2004.
In January 2004, his brothers Tali and Semeri died within 24 hours of natural causes. Ulufale later became the head football coach for Saint Francis School.
