Meytal Cohen is an Israeli-American drummer and the founder of the heavy metal band Meytal. She was born on August 9, 1983, in Ramat Gan, Israel, and is the youngest of seven children. Her parents were born in Iraq. She studied tap dancing and theatre, and began playing drums at 18. After two years in the Israel Defense Forces, she moved to Los Angeles at age 20 to study percussion at the Los Angeles Music Academy.

Cohen started her music career with the band Metaphor, which toured internationally, and she also played with the all-female Led Zeppelin tribute group Moby Chick on tour in Puerto Rico. In 2010, she began a YouTube video project featuring drum covers of popular rock and metal songs. Her online channel grew quickly, drawing a huge global audience and hundreds of millions of views. By 2019 the channel had around 1.5 million subscribers.

In 2013 she launched a Kickstarter campaign to create original music beyond covers, raising about $144,000 from thousands of backers. The following year she released her debut studio album with her band, Alchemy, which she co-produced with Sahaj Ticotin. The album performed well on Billboard, reaching No. 1 on Heatseekers, and placing highly on the Hard Rock and Independent Albums charts.

Meytal released The Witness in 2019, continuing her blend of hard rock and heavy metal. Cohen is known for her energetic drumming and uses a DW drum kit with Remo heads and Meinl cymbals. She is endorsed by Drum Workshop and Meinl, and she remains active in performing, recording, and creating new music.
