Mecatlán

Mecatlán is a municipality in Veracruz, Mexico, located in the northern part of the state about 327 kilometers from the state capital Xalapa. It covers about 48.5 square kilometers and had around 12,800 residents in 2020, with roughly equal numbers of men and women. Mecatlán borders Coyutla (north), Chumatlán (northeast), Coahuitlán (northwest), Coxquihui (southeast), and Filomeno Mata (southwest).

The main local products are maize and coffee. In September, Mecatlán holds a celebration in honor of Archangel Michael, the town’s patron saint. The climate is warm year-round, with rain in the summer and autumn.

The municipal government is led by Municipal President Miguel González Antonio.
