Marchmont Observatory is a research center based in Exeter, Devon, UK. It was created in 1998 by the University of Exeter with support from the European Union to help local governments improve policies on skills, employment and adult education through research, learning programs, and networking.

Originally, it partnered with the Open University, the BBC, TUC, IBM, NETg and FT Management and focused on information and communications technology (ICT). It now runs the Skills and Learning Intelligence Module (SLIM), which provides data on the skills and learning needs of people and businesses in the South West to inform policy, funding decisions and projects. The Observatory works with the University of Exeter and regional research centers on joint projects to improve evidence-based practice in lifelong learning.

Leadership: Director Chris Evans (University of Exeter) and Assistant Director Ben Neild. Region served: South West England. Affiliations include the South West Regional Development Agency, Government Office for the South West, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) and the Association for Regional Observatories (ARO).
