Malonomonas

Malonomonas is a genus of bacteria in the family Geopsychrobacteraceae. It has one known species, Malonomonas rubra (the type species), described by Dehning & Schink in 1990. Malonomonas bacteria are Gram-negative, non-spore-forming, and chemoorganotrophic. They are anaerobic and motile, with a single polar flagellum. Strains have been isolated from anoxic sediments, and Malonomonas rubra metabolizes malonate.
