Maimonides Midwood Community Hospital
Maimonides Midwood Community Hospital, formerly New York Community Hospital, is a 134‑bed community hospital in Brooklyn, New York, with an emergency department.
It opened in 1929 as Madison Park Hospital, founded by Dr. Albert R. Fritz and his brother Dr. J. Dudley Fritz. It began as a maternity hospital and was named for the neighborhood. The hospital grew from 60 to 134 beds and changed names several times. In 1997 it joined NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, but that affiliation ended in 2016. It later partnered with Maimonides Medical Center. The hospital has been described as “One Address, Many Hospitals” due to its changing names and affiliations, and it offers Kosher meals to patients. In 2006 a state agency recommended merging it with another hospital, but the merger did not happen.
