Madeline Island Marathon and Half Marathon is an annual road race held every May on Madeline Island in La Pointe, Wisconsin. The course is point-to-point with some out-and-back sections. It is mostly paved with a few gravel stretches, and runners pass through woodlands with views of Lake Superior in a rural setting. The start and finish are at Joni’s Beach. The race is USATF-certified. The 2020 event was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2017, the men’s marathon record was 2:53:47 (Andrew Kromroy, St. Paul, MN) and the women’s marathon record was 3:12:20 (Stephanie Berger-Mckenna, Encinitas, CA). The 2017 half-marathon records were 1:24:02 (men: Blaise Sopiwnik, Washburn, WI) and 1:35:47 (women: Ann Smith, Lake Elmo, MN).
