MV Rachel Marie
MV Rachel Marie is a 77‑foot catamaran passenger ferry that can carry 172 people. It has two decks, two 900‑horsepower engines, and travels at about 24 knots. The vessel is owned by Four Seasons Marine and is part of the Haines Skagway Fast Ferry fleet.
Built in 1988 at Nichols Boat Builders in Freeland, Washington, for the U.S. Army, she later was sold to Four Seasons Marie and leased to Kitsap Transit for the Seattle–Bremerton route. From April 2010 she was operated by King County on the Downtown Seattle to West Seattle Water Taxi route. This service runs all day from April to October and during peak hours the rest of the year. On May 18, 2013, she was replaced on the Downtown Seattle–West Seattle route by Spirit of Kingston. The Rachel Marie has a catamaran hull and is equipped with two radar systems, a GPS plotter, a depth sounder, and an AIS transponder. The crew usually numbers 3.
