Henry Crow Dog was a Sioux medicine man from the Rosebud Reservation. He lived on his land called Crow Dog's Paradise. In 1970, he met Dennis Banks of the American Indian Movement and taught him about Lakota spirituality because Banks wanted guidance he couldn’t find in AIM. Crow Dog taught Banks the Inipi (sweat lodge), Yuwipi, and Sun Dance ceremonies. His son, Leonard Crow Dog, later became the spiritual leader of AIM, and Crow Dog's Paradise became a meeting place for the group.
